Expert hair-stroke eyebrow technique for natural, defined brows. Manual blade deposits pigment creating realistic individual hairs. Custom shape, arch, color matching. Wake up with perfect brows daily. Semi-permanent lasting 1-2 years. No daily makeup needed.
What is Microblading/Nanoblading?
Microblading is semi-permanent eyebrow enhancement technique using manual handheld tool with ultra-fine needles arranged in blade configuration. Artist creates individual hair-like strokes depositing pigment into upper dermal layer, mimicking natural brow hairs for realistic appearance. Unlike tattooing (permanent, deeper, uses machine), microblading semi-permanent (1-2 years), superficial (fades naturally), manual control (precision, delicate strokes). Ideal for sparse brows, over-plucked areas, asymmetry correction, complete brow reconstruction, enhancing natural shape.
Nanoblading advancement of microblading—uses even finer single needle (vs blade with multiple needles) creating thinner, crisper individual strokes. Results more refined, hyper-realistic, suitable for all skin types including oily (where traditional microblading may blur). Process involves consultation designing custom shape, color selection matching hair/skin tone, numbing for comfort, meticulous stroke-by-stroke application creating natural pattern. Results immediate but heal over 4-6 weeks as pigment settles. Touch-up 6-8 weeks after perfecting shape, color. Maintenance annual or biannual refresh sustaining appearance. At Zennara, certified artists with extensive training create beautiful, natural brows tailored to each face.
Microblading & Nanoblading at Zennara delivers meticulously crafted hair-stroke brows indistinguishable from natural growth. Custom design, expert application.

Understanding the techniques
Traditional manual blade technique with multiple ultra-fine needles creating hair-stroke effect. Slightly thicker strokes, suitable for most skin types, beautiful natural results. Original semi-permanent brow method, widely available, established technique.
Advanced refinement using single ultra-fine needle creating thinner, crisper individual strokes. Hyper-realistic results, superior for oily skin (less blur), more precise, delicate appearance. Newer technique requiring specialized training.

Minimal discomfort with proper numbing. Topical anesthetic cream applied 20-30 minutes before reduces pain significantly. With numbing: most rate 2-3 on 10-point scale, brief scratching/pressure sensation. Without numbing would be 5-7 (not recommended). Sensation: light scratching, tweezing feeling, mild pressure. Not sharp pain. Some areas more sensitive than others (inner brow toward nose slightly more tender). Individual pain tolerance varies but overwhelming majority find it very tolerable. Secondary numbing gel applied during procedure if needed. Breaks offered anytime. Post-procedure: slight tenderness 1-2 days similar to mild sunburn, easily managed. Most describe as “not as bad as expected,” “totally worth minor discomfort for results.” Compared to eyebrow threading/waxing: comparable or less painful. Much less than tattoo (superficial vs deep). Anxiety often worse than actual experience. Deep breathing, chatting with artist helps distraction.
Typical duration 12-24 months before significant fading, averaging 18 months. Individual variation based on: skin type (oily skin faster fade 12-15 months, dry skin longer retention 18-24 months), sun exposure (UV breaks down pigment faster), skincare products (acids, retinoids, vitamin C accelerate fading), immune system (faster cell turnover quicker fade), aftercare compliance (proper healing improves longevity), lifestyle (swimming, sweating frequent causes faster loss). Fading gradual, graceful—lightens evenly over time not patchy. By 18-24 months most ready for refresh maintaining shape. Not permanent like traditional tattoo—pigment placed superficially, body naturally metabolizes over time. This advantage: can adjust shape, color, style as trends/preferences change. Touch-up protocol: 6-8 weeks post-initial perfecting result, annual or biannual refresh (color boost, shape refinement) maintaining indefinitely. Some extend to every 2 years if retention excellent. Refresh sessions quicker, less expensive than initial. Flexibility adjusting design over years as face/style evolves.
Significant differences: Technique: Microblading manual handheld tool, artist controls each stroke. Tattoo uses electric machine. Depth: Microblading superficial (upper dermis), tattoo deeper (mid-deep dermis). Permanence: Microblading semi-permanent 1-2 years fading naturally, tattoo permanent (or very long-lasting requiring laser removal). Results: Microblading creates hair-stroke effect mimicking natural brows. Tattoo typically solid fill block color (less natural unless powder/ombre technique). Pigment: Microblading uses specialized semi-permanent pigments designed to fade gracefully. Tattoo ink permanent, may turn blue/green over time (old permanent makeup issue). Pain: Microblading gentler, superficial. Tattoo more painful, deeper penetration. Healing: Microblading 4-6 weeks, tattoo 6-8 weeks. Flexibility: Microblading allows design evolution as trends change. Tattoo commitment permanent. Cost: Microblading requires ongoing maintenance every 1-2 years. Tattoo one-time but can’t easily change. Modern permanent makeup (PMU) evolved—some techniques like powder brows, ombre brows use machine but superficial pigment similar concept to microblading longevity.
Ideal candidates: sparse, thin, over-plucked brows, asymmetric brows needing balance, gaps from scarring, alopecia, medical hair loss, desire for fuller, defined brows without daily makeup, active lifestyle (swimming, gym) wanting waterproof brows, mature clients with thinning brows. Not suitable candidates: pregnancy/breastfeeding (hormones affect pigment retention, safety precaution), active skin conditions on brows (eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis), keloid scarring tendency, blood clotting disorders or anticoagulants, chemotherapy/radiation (compromised healing), Accutane use (must wait 6-12 months after stopping), very oily skin (nanoblading better option), unrealistic expectations (cannot create brows from nothing if no follicles), unwilling to commit to aftercare, touch-up. Relative contraindications: diabetes (healing may be slower, infection risk higher—controlled diabetes okay with precautions), autoimmune conditions (healing unpredictable, consult doctor), very sensitive skin (patch test essential). Age: no strict limit but skin quality matters—mature thin skin may not retain pigment well, very young clients (under 18) require parental consent, realistic maturity. Consultation determines suitability individual basis.
Pricing varies by artist experience, location, technique: Initial microblading session (includes touch-up 6-8 weeks later): ₹15,000-35,000 typical range. Entry-level/new artists: ₹12,000-18,000. Experienced certified artists: ₹20,000-30,000. Master artists, specialized clinics: ₹25,000-40,000. Nanoblading (advanced technique): ₹25,000-45,000 initial. Touch-up sessions (6-8 weeks post-initial): Usually included in initial price. If separate: ₹5,000-10,000. Annual refresh/color boost (12-18 months later): ₹8,000-20,000 depending on work needed. Biannual maintenance: ₹8,000-15,000. Multi-year investment: Year 1: ₹15,000-35,000 (initial plus perfecting touch-up). Year 2: ₹8,000-20,000 (annual refresh). Year 3-5: ₹8,000-20,000 annually or biannually. Why variation: artist skill, training certifications, sterile environment, pigment quality, time investment (2-3 hours initial), consultation, design, aftercare products included. Red flags: extremely cheap (under ₹10,000)—likely inexperienced, poor quality pigments, inadequate sterility. Investment in experienced artist worthwhile—face is not place for bargain hunting. Results depend on artistry, technique precision. Research artist portfolio, reviews, certifications before committing.
Proper aftercare critical for optimal healing, pigment retention: First 10 days (most crucial): Keep brows completely dry—no water, swimming, excessive sweating, steam (sauna, hot showers). Apply thin layer healing ointment (provided) 2-3 times daily with clean hands. Do NOT over-apply (too much prevents skin breathing, causes poor healing). Absolutely NO picking, scratching, or peeling scabs (causes pigment loss, scarring). Sleep on back avoiding pillow friction on brows. No makeup on brows. No sun exposure, tanning beds. Avoid gym, strenuous exercise first week. No facials, chemical peels, Anti-wrinkle near brows 4 weeks. Days 10-28: Can wash brows gently after day 10, pat dry. Avoid harsh cleansers, exfoliants directly on brows. Still no picking if any residual flaking. Sun protection important (hat or SPF once fully healed week 4+). Long-term maintenance: Daily SPF on brows when in sun (prolongs pigment). Avoid chemical exfoliants (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs) directly on brows. No permanent makeup removers, laser treatments near brows. Avoid excessive chlorine (swimming pools). Touch-up 6-8 weeks non-negotiable for best results. Common mistakes ruining results: getting brows wet first week, picking scabs, over-applying ointment suffocating skin, using wrong products, skipping touch-up. Following instructions precisely ensures beautiful, long-lasting outcome.
